[00:00:00] Bryson Tarbet: It's back.
[00:00:04] Bryson Tarbet: You are listening to that music podcast with Bryson Tart, the curriculum designer and educational consultant behind that music teacher in the elementary music summit. Each week, Bryson and his guests will dive into the reality of being an elementary music teacher and how music can truly be transformative in the lives of the students you serve.
[00:00:26] Bryson Tarbet: Show notes and resources mentioned in this episode. Can be [email protected].
[00:00:38] Bryson Tarbet: That's right. The Elementary Music Summit is back for the fourth summer in a row to provide content specific professional development for elementary music teachers just like you. This year, we're gonna have five days chockfull of professional development from July 7th through the 11th, and registration is open now.
[00:00:53] Bryson Tarbet: To grab your ticket, you can hand it over to that music teacher.com/summit. Or check out the link wherever you are watching or listening. [00:01:00] Uh, so let's talk a little bit about it because I, obviously, I'm a little biased, but I think the elementary music summit is, let me, lemme take a step back. The elementary music summit is my favorite thing that happens, like in, in this company, in that music teacher.
[00:01:12] Bryson Tarbet: Uh, because we get to gather thousands of elementary music teachers from all over the world to connect with the common goal of increasing our professional learning. Content specific professional development. And I feel like I've been saying content specific professional development like forever and like nonstop.
[00:01:30] Bryson Tarbet: But the reality is that is the best and the easiest way to increase the outcomes in our classroom is by getting new ideas, new research, new ideas, and and lessons, strategies, and and concepts from people that are working in the classrooms all over the world to be able to try some new strategies. So we have some amazing.
[00:01:49] Bryson Tarbet: Sessions lined up for you this summer. We have 28 experts from around the world who are gonna be sharing on some of their like secret sauce, right? Some of the things that they really enjoy talking about, some [00:02:00] of the things that they feel really confident about and really passionate about in creating classrooms that are more accessible.
[00:02:06] Bryson Tarbet: Are more engaging and that are more fun and also balanced for us as the teacher, so that we can continue to do that. We have some wonderful sessions that are gonna be coming up. Again, it's Monday through Friday. We have some, we have live sessions. Um, every ticket comes with 24 hour access to the replay.
[00:02:22] Bryson Tarbet: Um, and then we're going to have an optional upgrade for the Alex's Pass. If you've never checked out the Alex's pass. Give it a look. There's a lot of cool stuff going on in there. Uh, but one thing that we're really passionate about here as that music teacher is getting professional development in front of teachers.
[00:02:36] Bryson Tarbet: So that's something that, that's why we, we make sure that we, we offer this as a way where if. You just attend for free and don't upgrade your ticket. You still get like 27 hours of professional development. Um, you have access to the live sessions. You have 24 hour access to the replay because we wanna make sure that it's accessible and especially for those that might not have a little bit of, [00:03:00] um, you know, reimbursement from your school or things like that.
[00:03:02] Bryson Tarbet: We want to make sure. We get that content in front of you. Now, with that said, we think the all access pass is incredibly, fairly priced, especially with the amount of, you know, bonus resources that our speakers and affiliates have submitted, um, and that year extended access to those replays. So to check out the elementary music Summit and this year's lineup of speakers, which by the way, like pretty good speakers, like I, I have to say, I'm pretty impressed and pretty excited.
[00:03:24] Bryson Tarbet: Um, head on over to that music teacher.com/summit or check out the description or show notes wherever you're listening or watching right now. When we first launched the Elementary Music Summit in August of 2022, um, I have to say, I had no idea what any of this was gonna be. Uh, I had just finished my last summer at grad school.
[00:03:44] Bryson Tarbet: Um, so I took 10 credits in three weeks. Do not recommend it. Uh, in the middle of that I also got COVID. So, you know, we were really come, coming in last minute and really, really just doing what we could to make sure that the event happened. Um, and we had thousands of people. You that joined [00:04:00] us. And that was incredibly humbling to me and my team to be able to see like, oh, like people want this, they want PD that matters.
[00:04:07] Bryson Tarbet: They want to be able to log in at the pool with, you know, their favorite drink in hand or whatever, to, to get this started and to do this and to really use this summer in a way that can give them new ideas for the next school year and really reinvigorate them to create classrooms that. Are engaging and accessible and fun and joyful.
[00:04:29] Bryson Tarbet: And I think, you know, as we've done different iterations, um, we've, we've tried to stay as, as close to that as we, as we possibly can because we, we think it's important and we know that it's important. And, um, you know, even me as, as the organizer, being able to go to that PD and try new ideas for my classroom has always been amazing.
[00:04:49] Bryson Tarbet: And I think that if you've never joined us for the Elementary Music Summit, we really hope that you'll join us. Again, you can join, join us completely for free if you'd like. Um, heading over to that music teacher.com/summit. [00:05:00] Um, but we are really excited to get started. Registration is open now. We're gonna be kicking things off.
[00:05:04] Bryson Tarbet: We have a pop-up community so we can get connected, get off of Music Teacher Island. We're trying some new things this year to help us get more connected, including a live networking event that we've never done before. Um, and we are really excited to be able to. To show you what we've been working on behind the scenes to share the work that our speakers have been doing behind the scenes.
[00:05:22] Bryson Tarbet: Um, and we hope to see you at this Summer's Elementary Music Summit July 7th through the 11th. With that being said, thank you so much for listening to this week's episode of That Music podcast, and thank you so much for making a difference in the lives of the students that you teach.
