Vocal health is important for all teachers, but we as music teachers have an added struggle if we don’t take care of our voices.

Even those of us who went through undergrad as vocal majors often lack the knowledge of how to truly use our voices in a safe and sustainable way.

Today’s guest on the podcast is Dr. Jennifer Whitehead. Dr. Whitehead was one of my professors in undergrad, and she is just amazing. I cannot wait for you to hear this conversation!

Dr. Jennifer Whitehead is an associate professor of voice at Ohio Wesleyan University, where she teaches voice and voice-related courses as well as directing music department staged productions.

Whitehead is a Columbus, Ohio native and a 2013 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice and Singing Health.

She has appeared in both staged and concert works in central Ohio and has also been extensively involved with the Opera / Columbus education and outreach programs.

Dr. Whitehead is a frequent lecturer on vocal health and practice strategies for singers. She resides in Westerville, Ohio with her husband and daughter.
