What Could MusicFirst Elementary Look Like in Your Classroom? Exploring New Possibilities for Active Music-Making
With Melanie Alexander, NBCT & Amy M. Burns
When a lesson in MusicFirst Elementary comes to life in a classroom, what does it look like?
In this session, we’ll move through a lesson the way a teacher naturally would, experiencing it from an instructional, student-centered perspective. Along the way, we’ll explore new features and functionality coming to the platform this year, and see how they can support and enhance any lesson.
Our primary focus will be active, meaningful music-making that supports engagement in the upper elementary classroom: structured listening, movement, ensemble teaching and playing, and more. We’ll also take a look at the natural progression from grades K-2 into 3-5 within the MusicFirst Elementary curriculum, and how the content grows in sophistication, depth, and rigor.
